March 2025

Dear RUMTA Family,

As we arrive at the halfway point of the spring semester, I can confidently say: we have yet to have a bad day this semester at RUMTA. As a whole, this semester, we have competed at three invitationals and two different regionals. Let’s walk through how RUMTA has been doing.

A Team Takes on Philly

Our fall semester kicked off with the A-Team competing at Drexel University’s Dragon Invitational. They finished in second place with a record of 6-1-1! The team also brought home three individual awards, with captain Alice Ko earning an outstanding attorney award, Victoria Wei adding another outstanding witness award on the year, and Alex DeVita also grabbing an outstanding witness award at this tournament.

B Team Conquers the Empire State

The following weekend, B-Team made an uneventful, mundane drive to Ithaca, New York, to compete at Cornell’s Big Red Invitational. The weekend itself, however, was anything but mundane. They walked out with a first place finish and a final record of 7-0-1! That’s not all; Wasi Ullah also earned an outstanding attorney award, adding on to his total for the year.

C Team Heads Down to the Charm City

For the final invitational of the season, C-Team went down south to Baltimore to compete at Johns Hopkins’ Blue Jay Invitational. They finished with a final record of 5-2-1 and earned the Spirit of AMTA Award. Not to boast or anything, but that is the second SPAMTA that RUTMA has earned this year. We keep it classy.

A and B take on Carlisle Regionals

There’s no place quite like Central Pennsylvania. From the scenic valleys to the Amish, it’s about as good as it gets folks. So you can imagine the excitement in the air as A and B drove down, looking to build off of last year’s performance. We did just that. Both A and B earned bids to the Washington DC ORCs, going 7-1 and 5-2-1, respectively! The only school to earn TWO bids at the Carlisle regional might I add. A special shout out as well to our regional attorneys, Olivia Karanxha and Zach Epstein

C Team Ends Strong in Princeton

To kick off their regionals C-Team made the gruelling (30 minute) drive to Princeton. After some tough trials, they finished with a final record of 4-4, earning an honorable mention! It’s been a great season for all the competitors on this C-Team roster. No doubt that you’ll be seeing these guys in the coming years. Let’s also take a moment to recognize C-Team captain Imaad Siddiqui for leading this group all season long.

In Closing

It has been a great year for RUMTA so far, but the job is far from over. Our A and B teams have been working tirelessly over these past few weeks preparing for the Washington DC ORCs. The goal is the same it has been all year long: punch a ticket to Nationals.

Thank you all for your continued support of this program. We would not be in this position had it not been for all those who came before us.
